1. Who is responsible for your data

OneMoreThing (onemorething.news) is published by Studio A8S, France. Studio A8S acts as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, write to privacy@onemorething.news. We answer within one month, as required by the GDPR.

2. What we collect and why

We collect as little as possible, and nothing that identifies you by name unless you write to us.

• Server logs. Our host records your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of each request. These logs exist to keep the site running, diagnose faults and prevent abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in the security and availability of the site.
• Audience measurement. If you consent, Google Analytics records anonymised traffic statistics — which articles are read, from which country, on which type of device. Legal basis: your consent.
• Advertising. If you consent, Google AdSense and its partners may set cookies to display and measure advertisements. Legal basis: your consent.
• Correspondence. If you email us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to handle your request. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.

We do not ask you to create an account, we run no newsletter, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

3. Cookies and consent

Two cookies are strictly necessary and are set without consent because the site cannot work properly without them: your theme choice (light or dark) and your language preference. Neither is used for tracking.

Every other cookie — measurement and advertising alike — is placed only after you accept it. When you first visit the site, a consent banner lets you accept or refuse each category. Refusing is as easy as accepting, and refusal has no effect on your access to any article.

You can change your mind at any time. A small consent icon stays available at the bottom right of every page; opening it lets you review your choices and withdraw a consent you previously gave. Withdrawal takes effect immediately and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

This site is financed by advertising served through Google AdSense. The following applies once you have consented to advertising cookies:

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and may themselves use cookies.
• Advertising cookies are not linked by us to any name, email address or account. We receive aggregate performance figures only.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by Google at any time in your Google Ads settings. To opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at once, use aboutads.info or, in Europe, Your Online Choices. Opting out does not remove advertising; it makes it non-personalised.

5. Who else processes data

• Vercel — hosting and content delivery, and the server logs that come with it.
• Google Ireland Limited — advertising (AdSense) and audience measurement (Analytics), subject to your consent.
• Unsplash and similar image libraries — some illustrations are loaded from their servers, which means those servers see your IP address.

Some of these providers are established outside the European Union or transfer data to it. Such transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or on an adequacy decision, as the case may be.

6. How long we keep things

Server logs are kept for a maximum of twelve months. Audience measurement data is retained for fourteen months. Advertising cookies expire according to the schedule set by Google, generally within thirteen months. Emails you send us are deleted once the exchange is closed and no longer useful.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to your data, its correction, its erasure, the restriction of its processing, or its portability. You may object to processing based on our legitimate interest, and you may withdraw a consent at any time.

Write to privacy@onemorething.news to exercise any of these rights. If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL.

8. Children

This site addresses a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 15, the age of digital consent in France.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the update date at the top of this page will be revised and, where the change concerns consent, you will be asked for your choices again.
