macOS 27 tests a hidden lightweight Siri interface

The beta feature appears when text is selected, but Apple has not promised it for release.

MacRumors reports that macOS 27 Golden Gate beta testers found a hidden floating icon for selected text. Hovering over it opens a compact set of Writing Tools such as Rewrite, Proofread, Edit with Siri, and summaries, plus context actions for contacts, messages, Calendar, Maps, and tracking. The discovery came from the r/MacOSBeta community, not from an Apple announcement.

The interface is disabled by default in developer beta 3 and public beta 1. Some actions do not respond, and the private feature flag can change or disappear. It should therefore be described as an experiment, not as a confirmed macOS 27 feature.

The useful signal is design direction: Apple is testing system-level AI controls that appear at the point of selection instead of inside one app. Readers should treat the public beta as unfinished software, avoid private Terminal flags on a primary Mac, and expect the interface to change before autumn.
